Officials with the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigations said that the shooting involved N.C. State Highway Patrol Troopers. Around 9:45 a.m., a member of the NC State Highway Patrol conducted a traffic stop of a pickup truck on Interstate 85 southbound near mile marker 185 near Durham.

GARNER, N.C. (WNCN) — Just as a Garner kidnapping trial was moved to federal court Tuesday evening, the Wake County Courthouse released the warrant detailing the findings of a search conducted by the Garner Police Department. Late on the night of April 28, a mother and child were taken from a man’s home on Buck Branch Road in Garner. According to the warrant, the armed kidnapping also involved a ransom, demanding that the victims pay $1 million.
