The cost of living in the city is always a conversation being had here. The rising cost of food is a big concern for many New Yorkers. A recent report from the state comptroller’s office found the cost has gone up more than 50% over the past decade. Households that make the least amount of money end up spending a higher percentage of their income on food, the report said. The report also shows older New Yorkers feel the greatest pinch — one in ten seniors faces food insecurity in the city.

The Public School Film Festival returns for its seventh year Tuesday at the Museum of the Moving Image. The festival celebrates arts and film students from all five boroughs. It hopes to open doors for film students as they try to make their way into the industry. For the first time this year, all New Yorkers are welcomed to attend the festival. Tickets are free.

Some groups work year round on trying to make the city greener and more resilient. A group recently shared more detailed plans for the New York Climate Exchange’s new Climate Hub on Governors Island, which aims to open in 2029.
