Oxford-based post-quantum cryptography startup PQShield has today announced a $37m Series B funding round, led by Addition. Founded in 2018, the company develops quantum-ready hardware, software and communications technology. Its products are designed to safeguard against quantum threats to conventional digital cryptography —which is baked into countless internet browsers, corporate databases and connected devices, including cars and planes, around the world.

A more established ecosystem means more people to bounce ideas off, and more support in the form of government programmes, EU funding and VC dollars. Entrepreneurs coming back to Greece after stints in Europe or the Americas have also created a global network for founders to tap into. According to Endeavor Greece, the Greek tech ecosystem consists of over a thousand startups that have a combined value of more than $12bn.

She knew him as Matthias from Liechtenstein-based European Holdings Investment, who was representing a real estate developer turned investor, and charging a $500k commission in cryptocurrency for his services.
