On Feb. 13, the House Budget Committee of Congress voted to look for at least $880 billion in spending cuts for programs within the House Energy and Commerce Committee, including Medicaid. Due to the congressional focus on Medicaid, nonprofits that rely on Medicaid-funded grants and contracts could face significant financial challenges. With less Medicaid funding, these grants may be reduced or eliminated, forcing nonprofits to seek alternative funding sources.

Protesters gathered in front of the Eugene City Hall for the “March 4 America” rally on March 4 at 12 p.m. The event was a part of the larger 50501 grassroots movement, which has protested President Donald Trump’s policies since the beginning of his second administration.

The Lane County Farmers Market reopened for the 2025 season on Feb. 1 and will remain open until December. The market closes during December and January due to colder weather and a decrease in crop availability. Now that winter is almost over, vendors and customers alike have returned to the market on East 8th Avenue to take advantage of locally-sourced goods. Orion Lawrenz, the program and marketing manager for LCFM, has worked with the market for over three years.
