A new restaurant with a focus on seafood has moved into the South Shore Boat Club in Peru. Stubbz Galley’s menu includes appetizers, such as loaded shrimp fries, pub chips and calamari; handhelds such as fish and chips with cole slaw and tartar sauce, shrimp fried in beer batter and chips, smash burgers, fried or grilled chicken sandwich; dinner items such as a cast iron center cut filet, cast iron bone in strip and walleye; and sides, such as baked tater, cole slaw, fries and asparagus.

Beginning next week a Peru icon will have new owners. Mike and Laura Stewert have purchased The Igloo, 2819 Fourth St.“Mike grew up locally and understands what The Igloo is and means to the community,” owners Rich and Chris Decker announced on the restaurant’s social media Thursday. Decker assured customers the recipes and menu items will remain the same. Next week will begin the transition and the Deckers will remain on staff until the Stewarts believe their assistance is no longer necessary.

Hazell’s Headdress, which sells custom wood burned hats and jewelry, got started a bit by accident. Marissa Hazell watched a video on wood burning and bought a cheap felt hat and wood burner to try it out. “I posted my creation online and people became interested in buying, so I started a business overnight and have grown my skills and tools along with materials of hats I use,” Hazell said. Originally from Missouri, she started participating in vendor shows there with the help of her grandmother.
