MATERIALS AND METHODSFor Application 1, we used TCGA dataset, accessible through the Genomic Data Commons Data Portal, and built our methods across 37 cancers with a total number of 13,057 patients. Each patient had the expression vector of 20,531 genes, and each expression vector was rescaled in logarithm with 10 according to the following equation, to speed up learning and lead to faster convergence.
