Follow publicationAnd the importance of learning to embrace the delete buttonI recently had a busy morning in which only had one hour to write. That’s probably more of the rule than the exception for me, so I didn’t sweat it too much, put my head down, and got to work. Although I can usually write about 2,000 words in a typical hour session, in this one, my brain felt stuck.

Why writing every day isn’t all it’s cracked up to beI’ve written before about how you don’t need to write every day to be successful, and I stand by that statement, steadfast in my belief. But I‘ll go a step further, especially for writers working on long-form writing—a novel or memoir, or something of that sort. When you start your project and stare at the blank page with the cursor mocking you, it’s easy to get bogged down and overwhelmed by the high word count you ultimately want to reach.

What’s in a name? Asking for a friendStephanie D. Rondeau·FollowPublished inNew Writers Welcome·3 min read·--One of the one million photos I took of my so-called name in ParisFor my entire life, I’ve taken great pride in my maiden name, d’Orsay. It’s so classically French—I’ve long been enchanted by, and felt a connection to, the Musee d’Orsay. When I traveled to Paris in my early twenties, I proudly presented my ID to the museum. Somehow, there was much less fanfare than I expected.

I'm so honored to be chosen as a winner in this year's #50PreciousWords competition. Out of 586 entries, Waiting For Spring is #29, and little Bear Cub couldn't be more thrilled! Thank you @viviankirkfield and judges for all you do for the #Kidlit #WritingCommunity!! https://t.co/iJ0jjkc1eT

I'm doing something I've never done before with this draft: I'm writing certain parts of it long hand. And ooooh is my hand cramping, and I can't move quite as fast, but I already feel more immersed in this character and their world. I'm kind of loving this! https://t.co/Y0VmWrCmCs

We’ve lived in our house for 5 years and have never seen a fox. I’m currently reading a book where the MC keeps seeing a silver fox, and guess what I’ve seen trotting around 3x in the past week? You guessed it. Not silver, but a beauty nonetheless. BUT WHAT DOES IT MEAN? https://t.co/UkRvirSJat
