CHICAGO (WLS) -- Crews on Friday morning removed fencing that had just been installed around the city's Streeterville neighborhood. Ald. Brendan Reilly, who represents the 42nd Ward, says the fencing was expected to help police control the crowds of young people who have gathered in recent few weeks. Ald. Brian Hopkins, who represents the 2nd Ward, told ABC7 that crews put up barricades in Streeterville on Thursday in preparation for this weekend.

GURNEE, Ill. (WLS) -- It's that time of year. Six Flags Great America will open its gates Friday in Gurnee. There's a new ride for thrill-seekers. It's the "Wrath of Rakshasa" dive coaster. How does this sound? It's a 171-foot drop at a record 96-degree angle, with five inversions and speeds up to 67 mph. We talked to the park's president last month. "I think you're going to feel like you're upside down," Park president John Krajnak said. "You're not going to know where you are through most of the ride.

CHICAGO (WLS) -- An investigation is underway after a series of garage fires in Lincoln Park Wednesday morning, the Chicago police and fire departments said. The Chicago Fire Department said five to six garages were on fire in the 2000-block of North Fremont Street. Some garages on Dayton Street were also impacted. Crews had to use saws to cut through some of the garage doors to access them and several power lines were down. The fires were struck out and and no injuries were reported, CFD said.

CHICAGO (WLS) -- Results of the Chicago Teachers Union's vote on a tentative contract are expected to be released Monday. This is the first CTU contract without a strike - in over a decade. If approved, the contract then heads to the CPS Board for final approval. The full union voted on the tentative agreement over two days last week on Thursday and Friday.

CHICAGO (WLS) -- A person was seen taken out on a stretcher at a Chicago police station on the Near North Side Thursday morning. The entrance to the 18th District was blocked off after some sort of incident happened early Thursday morning. An investigation now underway near the police station on Division and Larrabee streets on the Near North Side. Video showed someone was taken out of the police station on a stretcher and placed into an ambulance.
