This winter I have yet to use my cross-country skis and the nearby pond often has a pool of water on top of thin ice. I grew up in the ‘60s and ‘70s and spent the winters playing pond hockey most weekends as well as sledding in the snow. I grew up in a climate that was similar to that of my parents and many, many generations before me. We are now in a new climate and the disappearance of snow is part of this new climate. Memories are one thing, but scientific studies create a clearer picture.

At its heart, the book takes a scalpel to many of the dusty cliches and aphorisms that have guided leadership practices for decades. In part, the book suggests redirecting the use of ill-defined metaphors and common practices and replacing them with clear and actionable applications.
