Illinois.edu Chancellor is one of the most powerful positions on any college campus, and they can have a fairly large say in terms of what happens in a school’s athletic department. And Illinois has a new chancellor starting this summer. Charles Lee Isbell Jr. will be the university’s 11th chancellor, the UI system announced this week. Isbell is currently the provost at UW-Madison. He will take over Aug. 1, pending approval by the Board of Trustees.

Jack Jungmann It may be one of the biggest changes to college athletics EVER. A judge approved the so-called House settlement on Friday, paving the way for schools to begin paying athletes directly. NIL will still exist, but this will change NCAA sports forever. The three federal antitrust lawsuits involved in the case claimed the NCAA illegally limited the earning power of college athletes. That will no longer be the case.

A former St. Francis High School baseball coach is accused of sexually assaulting a child close to his family. Prosecutors this week charged Jeffrey Wuerl, 39, with three counts of repeated sexual assault of a child, one count of third-degree sexual assault, and one count of causing mental harm to a child. According to a criminal complaint, the sexual assault dates back to when the victim was 5 years old.

A FedEx employee at the company's Menomonee Falls facility is on the run and charged with attempted first-degree homicide in this week's early morning shooting. According to a criminal complaint, DeAnthony Leflore, 19, shot at his manager early Monday morning. Prosecutors said Leflore showed up about 2:30 a.m. for his 3:30 a.m. shift. The complaint said his manager told him to go home since he was not allowed to start his shift early.

Family has a celebration of life planned for Milwaukee trailblazer Anna Mae Robertson. The event for Robertson, who died last week at 101 years old, is set for Saturday, June 7 at 11:30 a.m. at Tabernacle Community Baptist Church on Medford Avenue in Milwaukee.
