    Now look, the Hyundai Ioniq 5 N is such an obvious winner in any judging of the best electric car money could buy in 2024 that it took a rare unanimous gong as the Wheels Car of the Year, despite the fact that I was on the judging panel, and I hate agreeing with people. So let’s just acknowledge that, in a world of limitless dollars, that Hyundai is the one EV I would definitely be parking in my fantasy garage and move on to something a little less obvious.

    Kia Australia remains absolutely committed to EVs and sees them driving the most interest and enquiries of any vehicles in their range. That particularly applies to the company’s most expensive offering, the huge and hugely powerful Kia EV9 large electric SUV. Company CEO Damien Meredith told EV Central the electric market is “a struggle” at present in Australia and that “we’ve definitely reached the early adopter limit” when it comes to finding EV buyers.

    There is plenty of Tesla in the exterior design of this spacious Skoda, while one COTY judge was impressed overall, pointing out its ‘sharp’ looks, generous electric range and how spacious it feels inside, partly due to the typically clever Skoda packaging – every inch of space seems to be taken up with storage options. And partly due to the giant panoramic glass roof which sun-shy Aussies can cover, fortunately, with a clever, if slightly clunky to apply cover kept in the boot.
