ESB and Red Rock Power have signed a PPA to supply SSE Energy Markets with electricity from the 1080MW Inch Cape wind farm off east Scotland. The latter will take 50% of the wind farm’s electricity output for a period of at least 15 years, the developers said. This agreement provides Inch Cape with a “reliable route to market for its clean electricity from early generation”, said the partners. Full commercial operation is expected in 2027.
BP to sell US onshore wind business

BP is to sell its US onshore wind energy business BP Wind Energy. The oil major intends to sell the company as an integrated business, with its experienced workforce expected to transfer to the new owner on completion. BP intends to launch the sale process shortly. The unit has interests in ten operating assets across seven US states with a combined gross generating capacity of 1.7GW.
Ireland awards 1.3GW in RESS power deals

Ireland has awarded contracts to over 1300MW of large-scale renewables projects in its latest RESS auction. Solar developments totalling 960MW were successful in the round, according to results published today by transmission system operator Eirgrid. The list of winners includes the 105MW Tullabeg 2 scheme and 100MW Milltown project. A further 500MW of PV projects were not chosen with the average winning strike price at €104.76 per megawatt-hour.
Cadeler beefs up green loan facility to €125m

Cadeler has increased the capacity available to it under an unsecured green corporate term loan facility to €125m. Standard Chartered is the lender on the €45m upsizing of the facility, according to the vessel operator. Cadeler has drawn €80m from the term loan. HSBC acted as sole mandated lead arranger, green loan coordinator, and facility agent. “With this upsizing, Cadeler has increased its financial flexibility and ability to seize market opportunities as they rise,” the company said.

Meyer Burger scraps Colorado PV factory plan

Solar panel manufacturer Meyer Burger has scrapped plans for a production facility in Colorado. The Swiss company said the plant is “no longer financially viable” due to “recent developments”. A strategy realignment will see Meyer Burger focus on the module production plant in Goodyear, Arizona. It is already largely installed and in the ramp-up phase, the company said.
