By Stephen Forsha, The Highland County Press In a big-time Southern Hills Athletic Conference battle on Wednesday (May 7), the Lynchburg-Clay Lady Mustangs lost to the visiting Manchester Lady Greyhounds by a 4-3 score at LCHS. The Lady Mustangs were first to strike with two runs in the bottom of the third inning, but Manchester responded with one run in the top of the fourth inning, then they added two runs in the top of the fifth for a 3-2 lead.
Whiteoak has road losses against Manchester, Fayetteville

Manchester scored nine runs in the top of the first inning, then added a run in the third and two final runs in the fifth inning. MHS totaled eight hits and had one error, while the Lions were no-hit and had three errors.

By Stephen Forsha, The Highland County Press The Lynchburg-Clay Mustangs hosted the Ripley Blue Jays for not only a Southern Hills Athletic Conference game, but it was senior day for LCHS on Saturday, May 10, plus LCHS senior Christian Flowers tossed a no-hitter. The final result saw the Mustangs defend their home diamond with a 22-0 win in five innings against the visiting Blue Jays. In the no-hitter by Flowers, he threw five innings and 65 total pitches.
Wildcats fall to host Rockets

By Stephen Forsha, The Highland County Press The past Saturday (May 10), the Southern Hills Athletic Conference showdown between the Whiteoak Wildcats and Fayetteville Rockets in Brown County saw the Rockets defeat Whiteoak, 9-3. The Wildcats scored two runs in the top of the fourth and one run in the seventh inning. Fayetteville led the entire game with two runs in the bottom of the first, followed by a run in the second and a five-run fifth inning. FHS scored their final run in the sixth.
Indians defeated in 2 consecutive games against Blue Lions

By Stephen Forsha, The Highland County Press The Hillsboro Indians faced Frontier Athletic Conference rival, the Washington Blue Lions on consecutive days this past Thursday (May 8) and Friday (May 9) in a home-and-home series where the Blue Lions won both contests. The first game took two days to complete due to rain and wet field conditions, but the Blue Lions were the victors by a 4-1 score. On Friday in game two, Washington won over Hillsboro 3-0.

By Stephen Forsha, The Highland County Press The Hillsboro Indians earned their fifth win of the season by defeating the host East Clinton Astros 3-0 in a non-conference game that saw three Hillsboro pitchers combine for the shutout. HHS scored two runs in the top of the first, and added their final run in the top of the sixth inning. The Indians finished the day with four hits and no errors. ECHS had two hits and committed three errors.

There were positives for McClain on the scoreboard, as they were tied with CMHS at 1-1 when the first inning ended, and after the Lady Falcons scored three runs in the bottom of the third for a 4-1 CMHS advantage, the Lady Tigers battled back.

The Mustangs saw both Cole Wells and Quin Wells lead the team in hits, plus it was Cole Wells gaining the win on the mound.

By Stephen Forsha, The Highland County Press DODSONVILLE — Two home runs by the first-place Lynchburg-Clay Lady Mustangs kept the atop of the Southern Hills Athletic Conference Division I standings on Tuesday evening as they defeated the West Union Lady Dragons 12-0 in five innings at LCHS. The two home runs by LCHS were off the bats of Noel Barnhill and Sadie Kuipers, with Barnhill’s homer being a three-run home run in the first inning over the centerfield fence.
