These results certainly are not very good. In fact, they are quite awful. However, these results are better than what had been consensus view coming in and also much better than feared. Kohl's Corporation (KSS) released the firm's fiscal first quarter results on Thursday morning. For the three-month period ended May 3, Kohl's posted a GAAP EPS of -$0.13 on revenue of $3.233 billion.

On Wednesday evening, high-end chip designer Nvidia (NVDA) went to the tape with the firm's fiscal first quarter financial results. For the three-month period ended April 27, Nvidia posted an adjusted EPS of $0.81 (GAAP EPS: $0.76) on revenue of $44.062 billion. These top- and bottom-line results both beat Wall Street's expectations, while being good enough for year-over-year earnings growth of 57% on revenue growth of 69%.

Tonight's the night. Racy hit song sung by Rod Stewart in the mid-1970s? No. Possibly the most important earrings release of the entire quarter? Winner, winner... chicken dinner. Tonight, a day after Wall Street experienced a roaring stock market rally, the chip designer that had become synonymous with gaming, crypto-currency mining, then the data center and cloud computing and now generative artificial intelligence will go to the tape with its fiscal first quarter numbers.
