    World markets rallied Monday after U.S. President Donald Trump said electronics such as computer chips, smart phones and laptops won’t face the same U.S. import duties as some other products, giving tech shares a boost. In early European trading, Germany’s DAX gained 2.4% to 20,857.54, while the CAC 40 in Paris was up 2% at 7,245.28. Britain’s FTSE 100 added 1.8% to 8,104.83. The future for the S&P 500 gained 1.2% while that for the Dow Jones Industrial Average was up 0.9%.

    The implementation of haptics feedback technology into electronic designs continues to grow, as its capabilities have grown far beyond adding rumble to game controllers or silent notifications to cellphones. According to a recent report from IDTechEx, the market for haptics technologies is predicted to reach US$7.1-billion by 2035, representing a CAGR of 4.4% from 2024 to 2035.

    Two North Carolina facilities that manufacture the high-purity quartz used for making semiconductors, solar panels and fiber-optic cables have been shut down by Hurricane Helene with no reopening date in sight. Sibelco and The Quartz Corp both shut down operations in the Appalachian town of Spruce Pine on Thursday ahead of the storm that swept away whole communities in the western part of the state and across the border in East Tennessee.

    When we start to reflect on our own minds, we can quickly be drawn to a mesmerising picture. This picture presents the mind as sort of inner world: a private landscape within which our thoughts, sensations, emotions, and other mental phenomena are located. One interesting feature of this inner landscape is that it appears to be inaccessible to others. No one else can enter my mind and access my thoughts and feelings along with me.
