New Japan Pro Wrestling, founded in 1972 and considered one of the world’s premier wrestling companies, started holding events in the United States in 2017.

CHICAGO — A federal judge in Chicago has temporarily called a stop to parts of President Donald Trump’s orders that target diversity, equity and inclusion as a legal challenge filed last month by a local group continues. U.S. District Judge Matthew Kennelly Thursday granted a temporary restraining order requested by Chicago Women in Trades. The group has argued that the vagueness of Trump’s anti-DEI orders have sowed widespread confusion while chilling the group’s free speech rights.

GREATER GRAND CROSSING — Chicago police said Friday that a 40-year-old man previously in custody in Indiana is now being charged in connection with the fatal stabbing of Teone Jones and an attack on her two children on the South Side last month. Marcus Bausley, 40, was scheduled to appear for a detention hearing Friday at the George N. Leighton Criminal Courthouse, 2600 S. California.

FAR SOUTH SIDE — A Chicago police officer shot a man armed with a knife Friday afternoon near the Eggers Grove Forest Preserve on the city’s Far South Side, according to a police department statement later that evening. According to police, an officer assigned to the 4th District joined Forest Preserves of Cook County Police in responding to a call of a man wielding a knife and chasing another person at about 1:45 p.m. in the 11400 block of S. Avenue G.

CHICAGO — A Chicago-based nonprofit that supports tradeswomen this week became the latest legal challenger to President Donald Trump’s executive actions targeting diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) initiatives. Chicago Women in Trades filed a 46-page civil lawsuit Wednesday in federal court in Chicago, arguing that Trump’s anti-DEI orders have created widespread confusion and are producing a chilling effect on free speech rights.
