Victims of domestic violence often wear “masks” to disguise the fear and pain they endure from being controlled and intimidated by abusive partners. “These people suffer every day, and put on a brave front for the world,” said Lori Palisin, executive director of Safe Journey, a Union City-based domestic violence services agency that provides free and confidential services for victims in rural Erie County.
