    The Enterprise Wireless Alliance has filed a Petition for Declaratory Ruling seeking confirmation that the 800/900 MHz Specialized Mobile Radio (SMR) systems that are not interconnected with the public switched telephone network should be classified as private mobile radio services under the FCC’s rules.     The FCC’s Public Safety and Homeland Security Bureau has published a Public Notice seeking input on adding certain connected vehicle technologies to the FCC’s Covered List following determinations made by the Department of Commerce. On January 15, 2025, the Department of Commerce’s Bureau of Industry and Security (BIS) determined that connected vehicle hardware and software provisioned by certain Chinese- or Russian-controlled entities pose an unacceptable risk to U.S. national security.

    The FCC’s Wireline Competition Bureau has released guidance regarding the transition from reporting geographic coordinates and addresses in the High-Cost Universal Broadband portal to reporting the Broadband Serviceable Location Fabric Location IDs associated with locations.
