Amdocs, Inc. has notified the Federal Communications Commission that it will not renew its initial five-year certification as a Spectrum Access System administrator. Thus, Amdocs will no longer provide SAS services nor accept Citizen Band Radio Service Device certifications as of April 21, 2025. To ensure a smooth transition, Amdocs will transfer all currently registered CBSDs to other FCC-approved SAS administrators by April 21, 2025.

The Commission has adopted a Sixth Further Notice of Proposed Rulemaking proposing changes to its wireless E911 location accuracy rules in an effort to reduce emergency response times. Among various proposals, the FCC seeks comment on its proposal to require wireless providers to deliver z-axis information to 911 call centers measured in Height Above Ground Level, which may be more actionable for first responders than the current standard of Height Above Ellipsoid.

The FCC’s Office of Managing Director has announced that the proposed universal service contribution factor for the second quarter of 2025 will be 36.6 percent, an increase from the previous quarter. The Commission calculates the quarterly contribution factor based on the ratio of total projected quarterly costs of the universal service support mechanisms to contributor’s total projected collected end-user interstate and international telecommunications revenues.
