Khayon Edwards has been nominated for the Premier League 2 Player of the Season award. Our under-21s forward has scored 10 goals and provided three assists in 17 PL2 appearances this season, as well as another two goals in the recent play-offs. Consistency has been key for Khayon, who never went more than four games without a goal this season, his best spell coming between October and February when he netted six times in nine matches.

Our under-21s were knocked out of the Premier League 2 play-offs by Manchester City, who had finished the main season top of the league, with a 3-2 defeat on Saturday. Khayon Edwards gave us an early lead before Louie Copley got a second at the beginning of the second half. Ashton Muir pulled one back with 15 minutes remaining and Lakyle Samuel equalised at the end of the second half to take the tie to extra-time.

Our U18 Premier League South title hopes were dealt a blow with a 4-3 defeat away to Fulham on Saturday. The result leaves us fourth in the division, one point behind Chelsea and Southampton and three shy of Aston Villa, who play their game in hand at home to Leicester City on Thursday before facing us on the final day next weekend. We need the Foxes to take points off of second-placed Southampton today and beat Villa next week to give us a chance of winning the league.

Two old teammates go head-to-head in the dugouts this weekend as we host Andoni Iraola’s Bournemouth at Emirates Stadium on Saturday. Arteta and Iraola’s connection goes way back to 1991, when the pair began their youth careers in San Sebastián at Antiguoko. Our manager stayed there until 1997 when he was snapped up by Barcelona, while Iraola would move on in 1999 to Athletic Bilbao.
