On Tuesday afternoon, 247Sports released their first full Top247 for the 2027 recruiting class. For Michigan fans, there was a very notable name on that list: Orlando (FL) Lake Nona four-star safety Charles Woodson Jr., who entered the rankings at 244th overall in the country, good for 23rd at the safety position for the class. The son of the Wolverines legend of the same name, Woodson Jr. has early offers from Ole Miss, Syracuse and Sacramento State early on in the process.

A few Michigan-related thoughts.... - Two noteworthy subtractions from the list entirely were in-state tight ends Anthony Cartwright (88 three-star now) and Holden Niemi (87). I can't speak to the rankings process but drops of this magnitude historically do hold merit. Neither player stayed healthy this season so with minimal junior stuff, they should have a chance to rebound.

The Wolverines are the sixth offer of the process for Heard, who has tenders from Penn State and Georgia among others. The staff extended offers all over the country at the linebacker position on Thursday with Heard being the only one out of New Jersey. The Winslow Township native is expected to be an elite east coast prospect with a national offer sheet.
