Back home in Lagos, at this time of year, the temperatures would be hovering around 30 C. In the nearby Gulf of Guinea, in the Atlantic Ocean, water temperatures would only be a couple of degrees cooler. The sun would be rising before 7 a.m. and setting almost 12 hours later.
