Mississippi State will make the familiar trip down to Baton Rouge this weekend for the third SEC series of the season. Mississippi State (16-9, 1-5 SEC) will travel to #5 LSU (23-3, 4-2 SEC) this weekend for a three-game series that runs Thursday through Saturday. The Bulldogs knocked off Samford by the score of 6-1 on Tuesday. The Tigers mercy ruled Louisiana the same evening the tune of 17-4. Coach Jay Johnson is in his fourth season at the helm of the LSU program.

The jockeying for position continues as college programs welcome more unofficial visitors to spring practice sessions. VIPMississippi State has been back on the spring practice field for just over a week now. Dozens of college football hopefuls have served as honored guest during those practice sessions. Saturdays are expected to be bring a lot of prospects to town and that stands to reason as school is in session.

It will be a quick turnaround for the Diamond Dawgs as they travel to Baton Rouge tomorrow in advance of this weekend's series against LSU.
