Orioles Add Pitcher After Trade With Yankees

The Baltimore Orioles acquired left-handed pitcher Matt Krook from the New York Yankees in exchange for cash considerations. The corresponding move was to designate utilityman Diego Castillo for assignment. Castillo wasn't with the ballclub long, as he was picked up on waivers from the Philadelphia Phillies on Feb. 16. By adding Krook, the pitching depth in the organization grows. Krook had only appeared in four MLB games with the Yankees, all coming in 2023.
Baltimore Orioles Prospect named to a Prestigious List

It was announced by the Baltimore Orioles that Jackson Holliday, the number one overall pick in the 2022 MLB Draft is the consensus number one prospect in all of baseball. That's understandable considering how many minor league levels Holliday moved up in 2023. He started the season in Low-A Delmarva playing in only 14 games hitting .396 with 21 total hits, six of them were doubles, a triple, and two home runs, totalling 16 runs batted in. All of that deserved a promotion to High-A Aberdeen.

The Philadelphia Phillies will finally be getting a City Connect uniform in 2024, according to MLB. They are one of nine teams getting them this season, which includes the Cleveland Guardians, Detroit Tigers, Los Angeles Dodgers, Minnesota Twins, St. Louis Cardinals, Tampa Bay Rays, and the Toronto Blue Jays. In each of the last few seasons, there have been a number of teams who have gotten City Connect uniforms, which was started in 2021 by Nike.

Newly acquired Baltimore Orioles starter Corbin Burnes is already making lists without throwing a pitch in 2024. Burnes was ranked No. 29 in MLB Network's Top 100 ListSince the trade happened, the former Cy Young award winner seemed likely to get the nod to be the Opening Day starter even before the news of Kyle Bradish having a sprained UCL and starting the season on the Injured List.

The Baltimore Orioles had plenty to celebrate during the 2023 season. The team won 101 games, lifted the American League East division tittle, manager Brandon Hyde took home American League Manager of the Year honors, and Gunnar Henderson was named the Rookie of the Year award. Now, Henderson's name can be added to another list after having a fantastic 2023 season. MLB Network has ranked the young star as their 34th-best player in their list of Top 100 players heading into the 2024 season.
Mets Getting City Connect Uniforms in 2024

In 2021, Major League Baseball started City Connect uniforms for only a select few teams. Each season, the list of teams getting these uniforms has increased. A couple days before pitchers and catchers are supposed to report to Spring Training, MLB announced that nine more clubs will be revealing City Connect uniforms for the 2024 season, which now includes the New York Mets. It's going to be interesting to see what kind of design will be on these uniforms.

Oriole Park at Camden Yards has been the home for the Baltimore Orioles since 1992. Before that, they called Memorial Stadium home. Things might be changing at Camden Yards, and that all stems from the lease that was recently signed to keep the team in Baltimore for the near future. Danielle Allentuck and Hallie Miller of the Baltimore Banner are reporting that the team came close to selling the naming rights to T. Rowe Price.
Orioles Fill Roster After Adding Angels Infielder

The Baltimore Orioles made another move to fill up their 40-man roster before Spring Training starts. The Orioles announced that they claimed infielder Livan Soto off waivers from the Los Angeles Angels. The 23-year old out of Venezuela originally signed as an international free agent with the Atlanta Braves in 2016, but due to them violating international signing rules, Soto was granted free agency in 2017. He then signed a minor league contract with the Angels.
