After a cloudy Friday, there could be some breaks in the clouds this evening. Variable clouds overnight, some areas of fog developing. More clouds than sun on tap for Friday with milder highs in the low to mid-70s. There will be spotty showers, but nothing widespread. Expect widespread steady and at times heavy rain rain Friday night into Saturday morning. Saturday will feature a possible break in the rain midday/afternoon before the steady rain returns for Saturday evening/night.

We are SOAKED! Steady moderate to heavy rain fell across the state today. It’ll remain soggy through the overnight hours. Make sure your sump pumps are working–I fear there will be some basement flooding in a lot of communities. Passing showers expected overnight into Saturday morning. The good new is–Saturday won’t be a washout! Things will dry out and brighten up tomorrow afternoon.

A stationary front will set up across Southern New England.
