Nizam Uddin and Shayan Khan at Lavington Sports Ground. Picture by Mark JesserUniversity mates playing in the same club side is nothing new but how many cricketers have done that across two continents? Shayan Khan and Nizam Uddin's reunion at Lavington this summer is therefore fairly unique and the strength of their connection goes some way to explaining their fantastic figures in CAW Provincial.

Thirds football is back at Rand-Walbundrie-Walla. The Giants were unable to field an under-17 side this year and therefore didn't defend the premiership they won in 2022. But, in a major boost to the three towns, they'll return to the field next season coached by James Kreutzberger. "It's massive," Kreutzberger said. "It'll be great to work with those guys, most of whom played senior footy this year and reached a prelim final under Dan (Athanitis) and Jack (Duck).

Alex Popko was a club-mate of Shane Warne's at St Kilda and starred in T20 cricket while working interstate in the mines, before returning to ply his trade in Cricket Albury-Wodonga. Alex Popko has served up plenty of entertainment on the cricket and football field over the years so STEVE TERVET sat down with him to re-live some of those memorable moments and consider what's next. Myrtleford coach Craig Millar gets his message across to the players. Picture by Mark JesserCraig Millar has laid down a clear challenge to his Myrtleford players. The Saints finished bottom of the ladder this year, winning just one game in Millar's first season coaching at McNamara Reserve. He's confident the club's youngsters will emerge better and wiser for the experience of playing senior Ovens and Murray football but has drawn a line in the sand when it comes to preparing for 2024.

They've got a lot on their plate at @NorthAlburyFNC... literally. Schnitzel, pasta bake, chips, gravy and salad - served up by O&M legend Paula Cary no less. Absolutely sensational. 9/10 @Dsincs @EscottBlake @G_MacLeod @RealTrentBall https://t.co/Ur45BNcL0W

Back on the road with the @omfnl crew. Hosted tonight by @wangrovers ahead of their (double) flag unfurling in the season opener. Large serve of pasta, grated carrot in the mix, thick slice of bread - and parmesan offered but not taken in my case. Solid start. 7/10 https://t.co/s2r2QtAi4K

Great character shown by @jackdraper0 to come from 1-0 and 2-1 down to win a thriller in five sets and four hours at the @AustralianOpen today. Thanks for the entertainment (even though it was nerve-shredding at times) and of course the post-match selfie. 🇬🇧 https://t.co/RWUBR1YGsI
