The Top of Iowa West had North Union’s upset bid against Bishop Garrigan of Algona fall short 72-69.

Spencer, Ia (Northwest Iowa Now) – The Spencer Girls and Boys Basketball teams hosted Spirit Lake on Friday in the Fieldhouse. The Spencer Girls hung tight in the first two quarters, but Spirit Lake would dominate in the 2nd half. Both Kennedy Graettinger and Dakota Lux scored 8 to lead Spencer in the 66-38 loss. Spirit Lake’s Maggie Bruinsma hit 8 3-pointers on her way to 26 points on the evening. Spirit Lake is now 13-5 on the year and 4-3 in Lakes Conference Play.

Estherville, Ia (Northwest Iowa Now) – The Spencer Girls and Boys Basketball teams hit the road on Monday night to begin their second round of Lakes Conference games. Estherville Lincoln Central girls got out to a great start on their home floor against the Tigers, outscoring Spencer 20-4 in the first 8 minutes. Spencer would put together a better quarter in the 2nd, but ELC still outscored them, and led 39-18 at the half.

Paullina, Ia (Northwest Iowa Now) – The South O’Brien Boys and Girls Basketball teams hosted Hinton on Friday night. The Blackhawk offense got rolling early in the girl’s game, as they launched out to a 29-10 lead in the 1st quarter. That exact score would repeat in the 2nd quarter, as Hinton extended their lead to 38 going into the half, up 58-20.

Here are Girls Wrestling scores from Saturday. A handful of 9-County Area teams were at the Hinton/SBL Blackhawk Girls Tournament. Terra Swedin of GTRA/ELC was 2nd at 105. Okoboji/HMS’s Brooke Stockdale won at 110 with Spirit Lake/Park’s Audrina Bennett in 2nd. At 130, Alyana Hesse of Okoboji/HMS finished 3rd. GTRA/ELC’s Isabelle Harris was 1st at 135. In the team scores, Hinton/SBL would place 1st with 235, Ridge View was 2nd with 201, and Central Lyon/George-Little Rock placed 3rd with 149.
