Before we answer that, a little math history is relevant. There is an investment/cost term called the “Rule of 72.” Simply stated, if you receive a 2% return on your investment and divide that into 72, you will double your money in 36 years. If you receive a 6% return you divide that into 72 and double your money in 12 years — and so on. The rule works the other way also.
