A man aged 46 and a boy of 17 have died after drowning while on holiday in Australia, according to reports. The two British tourists were swept out to sea on Sunday while swimming at a beach at a popular tourist town on the southern tip of the Great Barrier Reef. The BBC reported that the pair were in the water at a beach in the town of Seventeen Seventy, which was nor lifeguarded. The town in Queensland is named after the year Captain James Cook arrived in Australia.

Actor Warwick Davis and his family are bracing themselves for “difficult next chapter” as the inquest in to the death of his beloved wife Samantha is set to begin. Ms Davis, who was also an actress, died aged 53 at University College Hospital in London on March 24 last year. Her family hope that her inquest, which is due to take place at Inner West London Coroner’s Court on Monday, will “at last provide us with answers” as trying to come to terms with her death has been “incredibly difficult”.

A plastic surgeon has been found guilty of attempting to murder a fellow doctor whom he wanted “out of the way”, by breaking into his home, dousing the ground floor in petrol and then stabbing his victim. Peter Brooks, 61, was convicted of two counts of attempted murder, attempted arson with intent to endanger life, and possession of a knife in a public place, after he knifed former colleague Graeme Perks in the early hours of January 14 2021.
