One of the lesser reported manifesto pledges of the Labour Party prior to its regrettable election last summer was its solemn promise to “halve violence against women and girls” within a decade – a strangely specific and unachievable promise, if you ask me. How does Labour actually plan to do this? By naïve and utopian technocratic means, as ever, such as the introduction of “domestic abuse specialists” (expert wife-beaters, perchance?) inside 999 control rooms.

Back when I was at school, the only piece of drama I studied in which teenage boys and girls ended up going a bit stabby on one another was Romeo and Juliet. Today, star-cross’d underage lovers are exhorted to instead examine the new four-part Netflix drama Adolescence, which is less by William Shakespeare, more by William Wagfinger. Supposedly, say the media, this is “the TV show everyone’s watching”, which rather disregards the fact that over 40% of UK households don’t even have Netflix.

Performing research prior to reviewing a book about transgenderism on another website recently, I came across an obscene photograph which, I think, may just sum up the utterly schizophrenic levels of incoherence of the cherished yet demonstrably incompatible ideas being promoted by our current governing class better than any I have ever before seen. This image may perhaps require a little explanation, the news story it illustrates now being a few years old.

Some rapes are committed by the right kind of person. Some rapes are committed by the wrong kind of person. Allegations of the former sort you hear about all the time, as with the alleged crimes of liberal media hate-figures like Andrew Tate, Donald Trump and various members of the Roman Catholic Church. Allegations of the latter sort you almost never hear about, as with the alleged crimes of Pierre-Alain Cottineau, a man of whose existence most readers will be blissfully unaware.
