When Nintendo launches a new console, it’s always joined by one of their heavy-hitting IPs to help show off the new tech at its best, and for Nintendo Switch 2, that sees a brand-new Mario Kart racing onto the scene with Mario Kart World. When it comes to consoles, few match Nintendo’s vision and boldness. From the NES to the Wii and beyond, the company dares to dream and constantly reshapes the gaming world. This is especially true with the Switch, arguably one of gaming’s greatest comeback stories. Off the back of that success, we now have Nintendo Switch 2. A sequel that builds on the original’s success, enhances nearly every feature, and adds a few fresh ideas, all while remaining firmly within the same ecosystem.

Atomfall from Rebellion has been one of the most surprising games of the year so far. It was a brand-new IP that dared to do something very British in the action survival genre. It’s always nice to see a developer listening to the community and delivering something they’ve been asking for. It’s even better when that developer is FromSoftware and the series in question is Elden Ring. Elden Ring: Nightreign is a new standalone game, which many thought was DLC for the core game (me included). It takes what you know but blows the doors off it—this is very much a co-op affair.
