I’m a big fan of indie titles like Limbo, Inside, Somerville, and Planet of Lana, which deliver hard-hitting narratives through the simple mechanic of moving left and right on a 2D plane in a 3D world. I am just a sucker for puzzle-platformers that ooze style. And, it’s that style that often draws me me in before the gameplay, and the same can be said for American Arcadia, the latest title from Madrid-based Out of the Blue Games.

Journey to the Savage Planet, released back in 2020, was a fun-filled space adventure that blended solid gameplay with a wicked sense of humour. However, it wasn’t exactly a standout at the time, nor has it gone down in the history books. So, it’s a bit of a surprise that, five years later, we’re getting a sequel in the form of Revenge of the Savage Planet from Canadian-based studio Raccoon Logic – made up of members from the original Typhoon Studios team.

As the world and its granny go mad for the latest news and trailer for Grand Theft Auto VI, it’s oddly Rockstar’s—well, DMA Design’s—original instalment that has inspired Nottingham-based Fallen Tree Games’ latest title, The Precinct. This game takes the top-down, open-world GTA formula but flips the perspective. The Precinct puts you on the boys-in-blue’s side of the line instead of playing as a mobster or gangland thug.

It’s that time of the year once again, where Milestone asks you to take your place on the grid for this year’s instalment of their long-running MotoGP series. But, as is the way with every game in the series, the question remains: have they changed things enough to warrant you shelling out for a new version? MotoGP 24 was the most polished and mechanically tight the series has been to date. And so, MotoGP 25 has a mountain to climb so that it doesn’t fall into that ‘another annual update’ category.

There are just never enough hours in the day to play all the games you want to. And, it’s a heart-breaking fact of life that for most of us there are not enough hours in the day to review all of the amazing titles we get to play. It’s a crying shame. But, we believe that indie titles should not be passed up regardless of our limited time, so what we have come up with is the idea of a monthly feature that will round-up the games we have played.
