Over 200,000 disabled adults have now had their benefit award transferred to Social Security Scotland from the Department for Work and Pensions. This means almost two thirds (63%) of adults in Scotland who were previously getting Personal Independence Payment (PIP) are now receiving Adult Disability Payment. This is an important milestone in the devolution of benefits to Scotland, especially because people who received DWP benefits like PIP talked about the system being inhumane.

I want to offer my condolences to the families affected by the deadly attack which happened in Southport, claiming three innocent young lives. These were girls enjoying a fun dance class. They were sisters, daughters – children with their whole lives ahead of them. My thoughts are with the whole Southport community – especially as some individuals and groups have used this incident to stir up racial hatred.
