    CHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I. — P.E.I.’s petroleum regulator will allow Irving Oil Ltd. to pass on the cost of complying with federal clean fuel regulations – a climate program intended to reduce the emissions of oil refiners – to the cost consumers at the gas pump. The clean fuel regulations came into effect this summer.

    Nearly 10 months after P.E.I. Premier Dennis King announced his government was working through the “final details” of a 10-year health-care deal with Ottawa, both levels of government have inked a deal worth $94 million. Federal Health Minister Mark Holland and P.E.I. Health Minister Mark McLane signed the three-year agreement after a news conference at the Cornwall Health Centre on Dec. 19. The agreement covers the period of the current fiscal year up until March 31, 2026.

    An internal report obtained by SaltWire is raising questions about whether UPEI’s new medical school will burden the province’s existing health-care system. The report, prepared for Health P.E.I. and UPEI by the consultancy Spindle, includes an overview of UPEI’s plans for the development of its new faculty of medicine, which will offer a curriculum currently taught at Memorial University in Newfoundland and Labrador. Currently, plans involve the first cohort of students starting in 2025.
