METHODS We selected the 333 bird species whose historical breeding ranges were <50,000 km2 across the Northern Andes and for which there have been data since 1800. We accessed and managed data from GBIF (GBIF.org, 2022) and eBird (eBird basic data set, version: EBD_relDec-2021) repositories with scripted algorithms in Python (Python Software Foundation, 2021) and R (R Core Team, 2020). The GBIF data were sourced up to September 2022; eBird's most updated data were from December 2021.
