1 INTRODUCTION Pregnancy can cause various physiological and pathological changes in all female body systems, including the eyes. The changes that occur are largely due to the hormonal imbalances associated with increased oestrogen and progesterone levels during pregnancy.1 Some of the changes that occur in the eye exacerbate pre-existing eye conditions, whilst other conditions occur for the first time during pregnancy and can be a result of other complications in pregnancy.
