ABSTRACTScrew micro-piles are becoming progressively popular for inherent advantages and installation convenience. Their load-transfer technique and failure mechanism are complex and they bear more loads compared to the conventional piles, due to soil-thread interactive shear and bearing stresses. Available knowledge on performance of such piles is limited.

Abstract:Foundations supporting infrastructure built on soft and compressible marine soil are unlikely to sustain due to possibility of undrained shear failure or excessive settlement of the supporting soil. This necessitates the importance of implementing an adequate ground improvement strategy. Among different techniques, soft soil reinforcing by the installation of stone columns is one of the most successful methods in terms of long-term stability of foundations.

Abstract:Rivers are crucial components of human civilization, as they provide water for domestic, agricultural, and industrial use. Additionally, they transport domestic and industrial waste to the sea. The Ganga River is a major river in India, originating from Gangotri in the north, flowing through five provinces, and discharging into the Bay of Bengal. This study examined the impact of land use and land cover changes (LULC) on water quality along the River Hooghly in India.
