Audrey Brisson (who played Amélie in 2019) embodies Piaf – her diminutive size, her energy and exuberance for life, and most of all her distinctive voice – powerful, rich and haunting. She is supported by nine other actor/musicians whose vocal skills, as well as playing a variety of instruments, add to the emotional intensity of the production.

Aldbourne Children’s Book Group celebrated their 50th Birthday on Saturday March 22nd with a Birthday Extravaganza in Aldbourne War Memorial Hall. Members past and present gathered from North Wales, London, Reading, Oxford and even California. Award-winning illustrator, Korky Paul, led a Draw-A-Thon workshop with over 50 children, accompanied, of course, by Winnie the Witch and Wilbur.

Not only was Friday March 21st Comic Relief Day but it was also World Down Syndrome Day and St Michael’s C of E Primary School in Aldbourne organised a fund raising event for both these important charities. Students, staff, friends and families raised a whopping £900. A spokesman from the school said, “Children were invited to come into school wearing non-school uniform with their odd/standout socks to celebrate World Down Syndrome Day as well as Comic Relief.
