New Delhi, Dec. 1 -- The Indian Premier League (IPL) triennial auction in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, on 24-25 November had as much game strategy as you see on the cricket field. When the dust settled, 10 teams emerged with strengths as well as weaknesses, setting up a well-contested IPL 2025. Here's a look at each franchise's algorithm for winning. After a barren four years and finishing last in IPL 2024, Mumbai Indians (MI) wanted to strengthen the bowling around Jasprit Bumrah.

Ponting’s huge gambleThe new Punjab Kings (PBKS) coach, Ricky Ponting, who parted ways with Delhi Capitals (DC), had the biggest purse for the auction, after retaining only two uncapped players. It was widely expected he would use it to get his DC mate, Rishabh Pant. Instead, he outbid DC to buy another skipper he had groomed, Shreyas Iyer, for a whopping ₹26.75 crore. Iyer was in demand after leading Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) to the 2024 title.

New Delhi, Nov. 21 -- The Indian Premier League (IPL) laid out a level playing field through player auctions from the very outset in 2008. Every team has a fixed purse, ensuring that the richest franchises cannot dominate the league simply by buying the best players. Rather, it rewards the smartest franchises who deploy their purses wisely. The purse is Rs.120 crore for each of the 10 teams to be formed in the triennial mega auction on 24-25 November in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.

New Delhi, Nov. 1 -- Muddled captaincy, wrong decisions, faulty selection, decline of stalwarts-it was a perfect storm that flattened India at home after a 12-year winning run. India's Test series loss to New Zealand, going 2-0 down in Pune on 26 October, came after 18 consecutive home series wins. The last time they lost a Test series in India was in 2012 against England. That it came against New Zealand, a nation that had never won a Test series in India earlier, made it a historic defeat.

Akash Ambani walking across to shake hands with RCB CEO who didn’t use RTM for Will Jacks was a shocker. Earlier MI didn’t use RTM for Tim David who went to RCB. Side deals like this will mess up the auction which is the cornerstone of IPL.

RT @TrollHaiklu: Tim David- Will Jacks was a hidden trade for sure. Pakka agreed not to rtm before the auction 😂 https://t.co/e0KWlRkbuV
