    The Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA) on Tuesday presented Gas Distribution Licenses to 10 companies. Speaking at the Gas Distribution Licence (GDL) Award ceremony in Abuja, the authority’s Chief Executive, Engr Farouk Ahmed, recalled that the organisation received 30 applications for licenses from which it approved 10. He said the licences cover about 1.5 billion standard cubic feet/day with over 1,200 kilometer of gas distribution pipeline network.

    The Financial Reporting Council of Nigeria (FRC) on Wednesday pointed out that Nigeria was not yet a hyperinflationary economy. Owing to this, the Council, in a press statement signed by its Executive Secretary/Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Rabiu Olowo, noted that the International Accounting Standard (IAS) 29 which borders on Financial Reporting in Hyperinflationary Economies should not be applied in the preparation of financial statements for the 2024 financial year.

    Nigeria's total public debt rose to N142.3 trillion as of September 30, 2024, representing an increase of 5.97% (N8.02 trillion) compared to N134.3 trillion in June 2024.
