Hero Cycles was set up in Ludhiana in 1956 and in the 1960s and 1970s, my father would have to drive to Delhi on the Grand Trunk Road for six hours every time he needed permission to make more cycles, or to import a machine or even to import parts. I can just imagine how excited he would be if he were to travel in a time machine on the centenary year of his birth, to begin a business in the India of today! To start with, he wouldn’t have to travel to Delhi.
