New Delhi: The Election Commission held a meeting today to finalise its decision to link Voter ID cards with Aadhaar. The commission's move, the Congress claimed, was a fallout of its complaints about a mismatch of electoral rolls in Maharashtra between the Lok Sabha and assembly polls. The Congress has now warned that the Commission should ensure that the right to vote of a single eligible citizen not be denied and at the same time, there should be no breach of privacy of any citizen.

Mamata Banerjee accused BJP of tampering with voter rolls with poll body's blessings New Delhi: A duplication in EPIC numbers on voter ID cards does not imply fake voters, the Election Commission clarified today. The poll body attributed this duplication to decentralised, manual mechanism that was followed before the voters' database was shifted to a digital platform. The commission, however, said these cases of duplication would be rectified by allowing unique EPIC numbers to all voters.

New Delhi: The Congress in Kerala - back in the news again over its row with senior leader Shashi Tharoor - has started damage control measures, starting with a meeting. Senior leaders of the party are expected to meet on Friday. While the agenda is the state election, the row over Mr Tharoor and the importance of speaking in one voice will definitely feature, sources indicated. Sources said the Kerala Congress leaders have consciously decided not to respond to Mr Tharoor or his remarks.
