New Delhi: In an election held during the house meeting of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) on Tuesday, BJP’s Satya Sharma emerged victorious for the vacant seat on the MCD’s Standing Committee. Sharma, councillor from Ward No. 226, Gautampuri, defeated Aam Aadmi Party’s (AAP) Hema, councillor from Ward No. 184, Jaitpur, by a margin of 35 votes. Out of the 227 votes cast, Sharma secured 130 while Hema garnered 95. Two votes were declared invalid.

NEW DELHI: The Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) in NCR and adjoining areas has issued statutory directions aimed at preventing open burning of municipal solid waste (MSW) and fire incidents at sanitary landfill (SLF) sites across the region. The directive, issued under Section 12 of the CAQM Act, 2021, targets two major sources of pollution—legacy waste fires at dumpsites and open burning of MSW and biomass.

New Delhi: The New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) has started construction of a 200-metre running track at Lodhi Garden to promote health and fitness among residents and visitors, Vice Chairman Kuljeet Singh Chahal announced on Thursday. The project, set to be completed by July 10, 2025, is part of a broader effort to realise Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of a developed India by 2047.
