    The streets of Blackpool have been filled with rainbows and parades as Pride weekend begins. Today (Saturday, June 7) from 11am, Blackpool Pride Parade started at the Sandcastle and South Pier in the seaside town, bringing an array of colour and celebration along with it. A ticketed event, the festival showcased show-stopping performances from some of the biggest names in drag and entertainment.

    A teenager has died following a horror crash on an A-road in Cumbria. Police were called to reports of a two-vehicle collision at 1.34pm yesterday (June 6) on the A5087 Coast Road at Rampside, Barrow. The crash involved two vehicles - an Audi S4 and a Volkswagen Up. A passenger in the Volkswagen, in his late teens, was treated, but sadly later pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Volkswagen, also in his late teens, was airlifted to hospital in Preston, where he remains.

    A popular farm-to-fork restaurant in Lancashire has won a prestigious award for business. Eight at Gazegill was honoured with bronze for 'New Tourism Business of the Year' at the VisitEngland Awards for Excellence 2025. The awards highlight England's tourism industry, giving out Gold, Silver and Bronze accolades in each category. In this category, winning Gold was Ad Gefrin Anglo-Saxon Museum and Whisky Distillery in Northumberland. Winning Silver was Eureka! Science and Discovery in Merseyside.

    It's been the driest season on record for Blackpool Zoo - causing delays in breeding. The Caribbean flamingos have finally started to build their nests after much-needed rain in the seaside town. Earlier this year, four tonnes of sand was delivered for the Flamingo Lake at the zoo, but the animals wouldn't begin construction until conditions were right. Flamingo nests are made up of mounds of sand and water and need to be in a position where they will stay wet.

Showcasing its rich history, St Michael and All Angels Church in the village dates back to William the Conqueror. In its grounds is an old village school which is now used by the community as a village hall.
