BACKGROUND Functional neurological disorder (FND) encompasses neurological symptoms that are discernible from other disorders, both medical and neurological, on the basis of positive clinical signs [1]. Cognitive complaints are frequently reported in FND samples [2, 3] and have been associated with elevated psychopathology [2, 3], FND chronicity [4] and reduced health-related quality of life [5].

DiscussionWe aimed to assess the feasibility of an experimental task designed to test the hypotheses that individuals with FND (motor symptoms/seizures) would display elevated autonomic reactivity and increased subjective FNS severity immediately following highly arousing affective stimulation. Subjective FNS were significantly elevated immediately after Negative compared with Positive and Neutral blocks.
