    A federal judge has ordered that Rümeysa Öztürk — a Tufts University graduate student who was arrested by immigration officers in Somerville last month — be returned to Vermont to have her unlawful detention petition decided. Öztürk, a 30-year-old Turkish national, has been in federal custody since March 25 when plain-clothed Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents arrested her on the street and whisked her away to New Hampshire, then Vermont, and finally Louisiana.

    Salem police arrested three teenagers Friday morning in connection with a Monday shooting during which at least 66 shots were let loose on a public street. Boston resident Ronnie Cato, 19, Quincy resident John King-Marshall, 18, and Somerville resident Richardson Frederic, 18, are each facing three counts of armed assault with intent to murder, one count of assault with a dangerous weapon and several firearms charges, Salem police said in a press release.

    If you’ve been considering adopting a dog, now is a good time to take home a new furry friend. Next week, 10 shelters across Massachusetts will be waiving their adoption fees for all dogs over a year old, the MSPCA announced Friday. The adopt-a-thon will begin Monday, April 21 and last through Sunday, April 27. All four MSPCA-Angell Adoption Centers — in Boston, Methuen, Salem and on Cape Cod — will be participating in the event, the MSPCA said.

    A Duxbury man has been charged in connection with distributing child sexual abuse videos of children aged two, three and eight years of age, the Massachusetts U.S. Attorney’s Office announced Thursday. Daniel Debreczeni, 34, is facing one count of distribution of child pornography, the U.S. Attorney’s office said in a press release. He was arrested at his workplace on April 14 and made his initial appearance in federal court in Boston the same day.
