Simon Element, an imprint of Simon & Schuster, has just released “The Rock ’n’ Roll Haggadah.” It hit the shelves March 4, just in time for that singular yearly gathering where most everyone gets along, and should make that innate harmony even more melodious.

What to expect at “An Evening With John Waters?” A better question might be what not to expect. It won’t be mundane or formulaic, and certainly nothing approaching conventional, as anyone who has seen his movies can attest. On Nov. 21, the Coolidge Corner Theatre recognized Waters’ inimitable place in film, photography, literature and art by presenting him with the 20th annual Coolidge Award.

On June 30, Adam Nimoy spoke in Boston at The West End Museum as part of a book tour for his new memoir “The Most Human: Reconciling With My Father, Leonard Nimoy” (Chicago Review Press, June 4, 2024). It was the younger Nimoy’s second visit in a decade to the museum, which opened in 2004 and has just undergone a major restoration following a January 2022 flood, caused by a burst pipe on the fourth floor of the West End Place mixed-income complex above.

Several local students were honored on May 5 at the State Room high above Boston for their winning essays in the 18th Annual Israel Arbeiter Holocaust Essay Contest. The contest is sponsored by the family of Holocaust survivor Israel Arbeiter of Newton, who died in 2021 at age 96, and the Jewish Community Relations Council of Boston.
