According to this week’s Portrait, Alison Mustokoff, only 17% of all artists in museums are women — and that’s a number she finds unacceptable. By opening The Jane Gallery in Old City, Mustokoff is trying in her own way to rectify the statistics. Opened in October 2024, this art gallery is dedicated to showcasing the work of women, nonbinary, and queer artists. Its mission is to support, cultivate and celebrate the diverse contributions of these communities through a dynamic range of programming.

Glenn Sykes is a lifelong resident of the Philadelphia area and has been a long-time supporter of LGBTQ+ organizations in Philadelphia, including the AIDS Information Network and the William Way LGBT Community Center. Glenn and his partner, Dirk Allen (of BVilicious fame), have been donors to the LGBT Elder Initiative out of a desire to support successful aging within our LGBTQ+ communities.

“Renaissance man,” or someone with wide interests and is expert in several areas, is a term thrown around a lot but one that definitely describes this week’s Portrait, Bob Skiba. Since 2006, Skiba has been the curator at the William Way LGBT Community Center‘s John J. Wilcox, Jr. Archives.
