At Dior’s Autumn/Winter show in February, several 15-foot-tall panels crafted by Shakuntala Kulkarni overlooked the runway. In them, the Mumbai-based artist, armoured and mid-stride, appeared to be marching or performing a powerful, ritualistic dance. Below, models took swanlike strides to the thumping cadence of drums. Wearing Maria Grazia Chiuri’s latest raiments, they navigated around a central installation of nine austere exoskeletons—Kulkarni’s cane armour.

Photographed on his terrace in Aizawl, Mizoram, Mizo pop icon Ngurthangvela, better known as NgTV, models a self-designed ensemble—a fiery-red sequinned blazer, verdant green trousers, and a feathery purple shirt. In another shot, he lounges on his carpet in knee-high boots and a multi-coloured sweater, one of the 250-odd he’s knitted over his lifetime.

“Dennis is the only business owner in India not wanting to get featured!” jokes Lalthang Khuptong, friend and publicist of fashion stylist Dennis Hauzel. We’ve both been trying to convince Hauzel for an interview, but he’s been hesitant. A few days before the deadline, he addresses my questions by email and then I ask to ring him up. He agrees, and one minute into the call, he is apologising for asking me questions instead.

The catalogue for Paola Navone’s latest collection for Baxter, “Quaderno di Viaggio : Marbella”, is haunting. Imposing pieces of furniture are shot in somnolent, coastal settings. Their intentional materiality and colour scheme serve as a tactile bridge between what’s man-made and what’s natural. This represents the genius of the Turin-born architect-designer, famed for her experimental approach to design, influenced, in large part, by her itinerant curiosity.

Last December, Sabyasachi Mukherjee presented his jewellery in New Delhi in a gilded show reminiscent of an early 1900s salon presentation. Models bedecked in a panoply of rare gems and the house’s latest evening wear walked down a room surrounded by cascades of gold velvet, holding numbered placards. Look one—the Kannauj suite—was composed of 120 carats of rare sherbet-toned tourmalines with diamonds. In look seven, the art deco Alipore necklace was styled with a fiery-red sequined gown.

The designer Rimzim Dadu’s first menswear flagship store unfolds like a cellular narrative. Individual metal strips—the building blocks—pave the way into the store, gradually merging into denser patterns, mimicking the convergence of threads into a garment. “Like an architectural veil, the structure folds and bends, layers peel, and material flows,” says Rajat Sodhi, principal architect of the project along with Christoph Klemmt.

In a world where going into the office is largely optional, workplace design is no longer an ancillary consideration for employers and employees alike. The hybrid wave has transformed the perception of workplaces from utilitarian spaces, where 'things get done' into experiential sites fostering collaboration, creative thinking, and company culture. Architects and designers have their work cut out for them, as the most pioneering ones reshape the concept of office spaces that we’ve held so far.

A long Spanish sojourn inspired Indian interior designer Anuradha Alegavi Shukla’s mind to envision a hacienda-style home in India. She was aching to fashion her own interpretation of the country’s spirited vibe and a uniquely chic approach to barefoot luxe, when, as if by serendipity, a couple approached her firm, June Walk Design, to decorate their new Spanish-inspired villa in Bengaluru, India. She was thrilled by the synchronicity.
