Cain Velasquez was officially sentenced to serve five years in prison. The former UFC heavyweight champion was arrested in 2022 and charged with attempted murder, felony assault, and some gun charges. ‘Cardio Cain’ was alleged to have been involved in a car chase with Harry Goularte, who is alleged to have assaulted Velasquez’s son. Jon Jones vs Tom Aspinall looks like it’s going nowhere. There was a little period of time where things were looking up. Dana White was saying that the “fight was done but its not done.” Moreover, Tom Aspinall later promised “big news” to Ariel Helwani in March, which made fans think that the heavyweight unification title bout between Jones, the undisputed champion, and Aspinall, the interim champ, was close to being finalized. Although he doesn’t get the credit he deserves, Daniel Cormier is probably one of, if not the greatest MMA heavyweight of all time. With his insane strength, unbelievable wrestling, and meanness in the Octagon, ‘DC’ was an absolute menace in his day, picking up heavyweights like babies and slamming them on the ground. But alas, the UFC commentator is best remembered for his memorable rivalry with Jon Jones, in which he was beaten by ‘Bones’ on both of their UFC 182 and UFC 214 clashes.

MMA is a tough sport. Ask Kamaru Usman, who went from being one of the greatest welterweight champions of all time (behind only GOAT contender GSP), to almost being an afterthought in his own division since losing his title to Leon Edwards three years ago. ‘The Nigerian Nightmare’ hasn’t fought at 170 since 2023, but that is about to change soon. The veteran is set to face surging knockout artist Joaquin Buckley in a fight that many feel will determine whether he is officially over the hill or not.

Jon Jones does not care if people call him a “duck.” Not one bit. The ‘undisputed’ heavyweight champion, of course, is dragging his feet on fighting the interim heavyweight champ, Tom Aspinall. Many suspect it is because the GOAT contender is “scared” of facing the Englishman, who is bigger than Jones, younger than Jones, and has a destructive, remarkably well-rounded once-in-a-generation game that can give ‘Bones’ nightmares.
