Finnish media company Sanoma Media is using AI from Radio.Cloud to bring a voice to its afternoon drive on Loop. The afternoon drive program was previously unhosted, but now listeners will hear a program hosted and programed by Anni, a virtual host created by Voicetrack.ai and based on the voice of Satu Kotonen, program director for Loop’s sister station HitMix. “My vision of a good radio voice is authenticity, clarity, and presence,” stated Kotonen.

Fraunhofer IIS has integrated the new ASA/EWS alarm signaling standard into its DAB+ head-end and receiver solutions. The Automatic Safety Alert/Emergency Warning System standard was formalized as an ETSI Standard in September and Fraunhofer’s implementation was demonstrated during the Bundesweite Warntag (Nationwide Warning Day) across Germany on September 12th.

As Italy moves forward with allocating local and regional DAB+ frequencies, broadcasters are concerned the numbers don’t add up. The provisional national DAB allocation plan , PNAF-DAB, issued by the Italian communications regulator AGCOM outlined three national, 54 regional (27 of which could be divided into subregions), and 36 local networks.

SRG SSR is making sure listeners understand why the Swiss public broadcaster is moving quickly to end its FM broadcasts. Swiss lawmakers set a 2026 deadline for stations to transition to digital, but SRG SSR is ready to make the change at the end of the year. In June 2024, the broadcaster announced it would leave the FM band at the end of 2024.
