    Lace up your runners, entries for the 2025 ASICS Gold Coast Marathon officially opened from 9am this Monday, December 2 - with some major changes announced for next year’s athletics extravaganza. The signature 42.195km race will now be the only event taking place on the Sunday of the 5-6 July race weekend while all other races will take to the start line on Saturday.

    The Gold Coast Marathon buzz has been building like a rock concert - or tickets for Wimbledon. It all started well before the race guns were fired. Runners queued at the Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre for over an hour on Thursday to be the first to enter the Sport and Leisure Expo and pick up their racing bib numbers. Among those collecting their race information was Cherry Lau and Wing Ho who travelled from Hong Kong to compete in the marathon.

    It’s a huge weekend for south-east Queensland - Brisbane hosting NRL’s Magic Round and the Gold Coast’s Blues on Broadbeach. While the two major drawcard events coincide, Experience Gold Coast’s visitor economy head Rachel Hancock said the clash wouldn’t effect attendee numbers. “The Magic Round is a massive event for Queensland but the Blues on Broadbeach is a really different market and we’re just so excited about this,” she said.
